About the museum
The Trullo Sovrano, in the historic centre of Alberobello, the “capital of the trulli”, was built in the second half of the 18th century by the Perta family. In 1916 it was given the name Trullo Sovrano on the proposal of Professor Giuseppe Notarnicola. Between 1826 and 1837 it housed the Confraternity of the Holy Sacrament, and in 1861 it passed to the Sumerano family.
After restoration it became a museum in 1994. The visit includes the main hall, the bedroom, the dining room, the kitchens, the staircase, the upper floor and the garden. In the main hall there is a bookshop with souvenirs and tourist publications; in summer the trullo hosts theatre performances, concerts and other cultural events.
