About the museum
The Kalnciema muzejs is located in the former doctor's practice house of Kalnciems in Tīreļi. The museum collects and preserves evidence of the cultural history of old Kalnciems, of the history of the northern part of today's Valgunde and Kalnciems parish, and of related topics.
In the doctor's house visitors can feel the atmosphere of the neighbourhood and learn about interesting moments of the past, notable local people, fairy tales, legends and mysteries. A separate exhibition – the rural doctor's consulting room – lets you see a room where time stopped about fifty years ago; it even contains a Soviet-era dentist's chair.
