About the museum
The Lapmežciema pagasta muzejs was founded in 1999. The exhibition centres on the fisherman in his work and in the surrounding area. The museum displays objects found in archaeological excavations in the area, historical documents, maps and drawings, as well as 19th- and 20th-century fishing and household objects and photographs from various periods.
In an interactive way, visitors can get to know the ancient place names and the natural riches of the area. The exhibition hall presents the life path of the poet Imants Ziedonis, who was born in Ragaciems; with virtual reality glasses, visitors can watch three films – a flight over the sea bay, and the fishing process in boats and on a fishing vessel.
