About the museum
The exhibition “Padomju gadi” (Soviet Years) was opened during the celebrations of Latvia's centenary in November 2018 in the cultural house of Aizkraukles pagasts (Aizkraukle parish). Aizkraukle, known as Stučka in the Soviet period, is one of the youngest towns in Latvia: it arose in the 1960s as a builders' village connected with the construction of the Pļaviņas hydroelectric power station (HES).
Stučka is associated with a typical Soviet-era space, so the exhibition on the cultural heritage of the 1950s to 1980s was set up in the cultural house building constructed in the Soviet years. It is the museum's second exhibition site, with its own address and ticket prices; in the Waze app it can be found as “Aizkraukles pagasta muzejs” (Aizkraukle Parish Museum).
