About the museum
The Jurbarko krašto muziejus (Jurbarkas Regional Museum) regards its mission as revealing the distinctive history of Jurbarkas and as the starting point for getting to know the history of the region for every resident of Jurbarkas and every visitor. The exhibition “Viduramžių kovų su kryžiuočiais panemunių medinėse pilyse” (“Medieval Struggles with the Teutonic Knights in the Wooden Castles on the Nemunas”) tells of the medieval wars with the Teutonic Knights and of the knights' ammunition and weapons. In its space and in the educational room, educational sessions take place, during which participants put on chain-mail shirts and act out battles.
The museum has branches: the Veliuonos krašto istorijos muziejus (Veliuona Regional History Museum), the Klangių etnografinė sodyba (Klangiai Ethnographic Farmstead) and the Istorinės atminties centras (Historical Memory Centre) in Lybiškiai. On 25 September 2025 the Jurbarkas district municipal council approved the reorganisation of the museum, through which the Vinco Grybo memorialinis muziejus (Vincas Grybas Memorial Museum) became a separate institution.
