About the museum
The Taujėnų dvaras has been mentioned since the second half of the 16th century. At the end of the 18th century the manor was owned by Count Benediktas Marikonis, who in 1785 married Marija Radvilaitė and received the old small manor as her dowry. To the design of the Italian architect Pietro de Rossi he built the neoclassical palace in 1802 and laid out an English-style park. In the 19th century the estate passed to the Radvila family, to whom it belonged until the Soviet period.
The front façade of the palace is adorned with a portico with six Tuscan columns, and the decorative bands of the building carry heraldic and craft-themed bas-reliefs. The palace contains the Great Hall (230 m²) and the Gražioji Hall (150 m²), as well as the White Fireplace and the Wooden Fireplace anterooms.
