About the museum
The folk artist Ana Krepštul (1932–2007) was born in Tabariškės. In childhood a serious bone disease struck her, which prevented her from attending school, and she began to paint at the age of thirteen. Her paintings are in collections in Lithuania, Poland, the United States, England and other countries, and some decorate churches.
The museum in Tabariškės was founded in 2008 to preserve the memory of the artist. The first two halls display paintings and fragments of her studio; in 2013 a third hall was set up, showing Ana Krepštul's embroidered pictures, clothing and rugs with gathered embroidery. Every year a painting plein-air is held at the museum together with the community “Wspólnota Polska” from Białystok.
