About the museum
Bø Museum lies by Vinjesjøen in Bø in Vesterålen and is built around Parkvoll, the former sheriff's farm (lensmannsgården). The exhibitions deal with Northern Norwegian coastal culture and with the author Regine Normann (1867–1939), who is known for both fairy tales and novels. Where the sheriff's office once was, the museum shop is now, where you can buy books and local crafts, drink coffee and eat ice cream.
The children can play in Eventyrskogen (the Fairy Tale Forest), and in the kitchen and the sun room there are old objects. In the blue outbuilding there is a carpenter's shed and a shoemaker's workshop. In the rorbu lies a Lofotkista (Lofoten chest) and old fishing equipment, and in the naust there are Nordland boats. Every summer there is a new travelling exhibition in the living room of the main house.
On the museum grounds is also Skulpturlandskap Nordland's open-air gallery, with the sculptures “Mannen fra havet” by Kjell Erik Killi Olsen and “Rodd fiske” by Christin Løkke.
