About the museum
Dokken fjellgard lies in Sudndalen in Hol municipality and has a history stretching back several hundred years. The farm originally belonged to Søre Skøro, but it was separated out as its own holding in 1770. In 1795 it was sold to Ola Ellingson from Nordre Villand in Hovet. The houses then stood down by the road, but Ola moved the farm to its present location and built the houses that still stand there.
Hol municipality bought Dokken in 1959 and restored the buildings. Today you can see buildings and objects from the farm from the late 18th century, a bathhouse (badstue) from Søre Skøro and a new forge from 1985. Dokken is run by Hallingdal Museum.
