About the museum
The exhibition Hallingrosa in Ål kulturhus shows rosemaling art of world class, with particular emphasis on how hallingrosa (the Hallingdal style of rosemaling) developed. Hallingdal has produced several great rosemalers over the last centuries, and the exhibition includes objects painted by Herbrand Sata, Nils Bæra and Embrik Bæra, who all have roots in Ål.
The exhibition takes as its starting point the art-historical development from the late 18th century up to more recent rosemaling.
