About the museum
Gol bygdemuseum is located at the farm Skaga in Golreppen, one of the oldest farms in Gol. The last farmer at Skaga gave the farm to Hallingdal Høgskulelag, which built a folk high school there in 1958. The old farmstead was turned into a museum and has since been extended with several buildings.
Most of the buildings are from the 19th century, while the loft dates from 1750. The farmstead includes, among others, a house (stue), a loft, a postgård (post station building), a barn, a stable, a kitchen house and a shed. Later a summer dairy (stølsbu) with a cowshed and the old schoolroom from Grønlio were added. A historic walk leads from Gol town centre up to Golreppen in about 30 minutes, and the area has walking trails.
