About the museum
Håland has always been one of the main farms in Erfjord. Between 1640 and 1740 it was for several periods a sheriff’s farm (lensmannsgård) and court site (tingsted). Today the site is managed by Ryfylkemuseet.
The site has been restored and consists of three buildings: the målastova, the homannsbua and the stovehuset. The stovehuset is the best furnished and best equipped of the historic buildings at Ryfylkemuseet and gives an insight into life on the large farm and how the better-off lived in the rural community.
The homannsbua has had several functions and was probably used as a guest house and for storage. Visits take place by arrangement.
