About the museum
Jonegarden på Hustveit is a nature, cultural and outdoor recreation area in Sauda. The cultural landscape around the museum farm and the buildings with the furnishings in the main house appear original and authentic, as they were at the end of the 19th century.
In addition to the main house (våningshus), the folgehus (house for the farm’s hired hands) and the barn, the farm has an eldhus (fire house), an earth cellar of natural stone and a water house. The modernisation that came to farms between the wars and especially after the war never reached Jonegarden: artificial fertiliser and motorised equipment, for example, have never been used here.
The woodland around the farm is today classified as a landscape protection area, and a display-board exhibition on the cultural landscape has been set up along the walking path. Ryfylkemuseet is responsible for the site, and visits take place by arrangement.
