About the museum
Litunet lies high up on the hillside with panoramic views over Hylsfjorden in Suldal, almost 300 metres above the fjord. The farmstead has 13 buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, which contain a great deal of old objects. The mix of buildings for various purposes gives the farmstead a medieval character, and the buildings were erected with craft traditions that reach far back in history.
Litunet is among the most worthy of protection of the farmsteads in this part of the country and is of national interest. Riksantikvaren (the Directorate for Cultural Heritage) protected the farmstead in 1974. The site is managed by Ryfylkemuseet, and visits take place by arrangement.
