About the museum
Kjøpsvik Museum in Tysfjord presents local history in two buildings, Hellandsbygget and the old lensmannsgård (sheriff’s house). The exhibitions cover mining and industrial history, cave finds, fisherman-farmer culture and household life, wartime history and school. In the lensmannsgård there is a fairly intact kitchen from the 1970s.
In 1918 Nordland Portland Cementfabrik (NPC) established itself in Kjøpsvik, and this transformed the district completely. The museum has many objects linked to the cement factory. It is part of Museum Nord.
