About the museum
The author Olav Duun (1876–1939) lived in the house, also called Fjellvang, with his family from 1914 until he died in 1939. His widow Emma continued to live there until she died in 1970. The house was then sold to a private owner, and in 1973 it passed to Olav og Emma Duuns Stiftelse (the Olav and Emma Duun Foundation), which has looked after it since.
The ground floor is preserved as a museum and furnished as the family had it, with a library, manuscripts and letters. The first floor is used for scholarship holders (stipendiater). In 2010 two rooms on the first floor were restored to their original condition.
The foundation welcomes companies, associations and groups for guided tours all year round. A tour lasts 30–60 minutes according to what the group wants, and on request coffee and Emma's apple cake can be served.
