About the museum

Sollia Krigshistoriske Museum opened on 8 May 2017 at the farm Amperhaugen in Stor-Elvdal. The collection tells the story of the war years 1940–1945 and was built up by Jo Øvergaard, who shows visitors around himself. Several of the objects come from his father, Rolf Øvergaard, who took part in the resistance.

The visit starts in the old sheep barn (sauefjøset), where German and Norwegian soldiers stand facing each other in full uniform. The collection includes uniforms, rations, parade knives, medals, radio equipment, parachutes, containers used for air drops, photographs and weapons. The exhibition contains much material on Milorg, Kompani Linge and the German occupying power.

Amperhaugen has been awarded the quality mark Olavsrosa by the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Foundation (Stiftelsen Norsk Kulturarv). The museum is run by an association.
