About the museum
The fiercest fighting of the Second World War in southern Norway took place in Kvam in the April days of 1940, when German and British forces met. The collection tells of war, occupation and defence in Gudbrandsdalen.
The exhibition contains objects, pictures and maps showing what happened on the dramatic days of April 1940, as well as a good deal of rare original equipment from soldiers on both sides. The exhibition also presents the resistance woman "Kess", who became prisoner number 9149 at Grini, and the miniature assembly (miniatyrtinget) she made while in captivity.
Next to the exhibition is a peace park (fredspark) with a memorial stone for those who fell in the Second World War. The collection is a department of Gudbrandsdalsmusea.
