About the museum
Kråksundet sjøbruksmuseum is located at Tustna in Aure and is part of Nordmørsmusea. The museum shows the fishing history of Nordmøre and coastal culture in an authentic boathouse (naust) setting. Kråksundet has a long tradition of various forms of coastal fishing, and beach seine fishing for herring has been carried on here.
The first modern production of clipfish in Norway began at Kråksundet, when the Dutchman Jappe Ippes received the king's approval and the exclusive right to start this production method in 1691. Visitors can experience an authentic seine-net boathouse (notnaust).
In the summer season there is activity on the museum grounds, with museum days, vintage boat gatherings and other events. The outdoor area is always open, and Kråksundet is also a good anchorage for those who arrive by sea.
