About the museum
Diktarheimen Kleiva (the poet’s home at Kleiva) in Surnadal was the home of Hans Hyldbakk (1898–2001), a local poet and genealogist. The house was built in 1938 and extended in 1953 with parts from his childhood home. It stands today as it did when Hyldbakk moved out in 1987.
The site is part of Nordmørsmusea. There are no fixed opening hours, but the outdoor area can be visited on your own, and tours of the house are arranged with the museum. The road up to Kleiva is not intended for motor traffic; anyone who needs to drive must contact the museum in advance.
