About the museum
Nes lense was a sorting boom for timber floated down the Glomma. The lense was a couple of kilometres long and had many sorting berths (sorteringsbåser) and several bundling machines (mosemaskiner), which pressed the timber together into bundles. A model in the brøkkerhuset (brøkker house) gives a good picture of how the lense was built up.
By Nes lense there are several buildings: a mess hut (spisebrakke), a sawmill (sag), a power station (kraftstasjon) and a workshop with a forge (smie). Today the museum is run by Skiptvet municipality together with volunteers, and the site is also used for events and summer theatre.
