About the museum
The collection began in the late 1960s, when Jan Peda noticed an abandoned Studebaker and bought the car in 1970. In the same year he took part in the first rally of historic vehicles in Warsaw. Jan Peda, born in 1937, is one of the pioneers of collecting historic vehicles in Poland and took part in many prestigious rallies.
At the end of the 1970s the collection had grown so large that the family had to build an exhibition hall. In the 1990s the collectors’ interests widened to include steam engines, old agricultural equipment and fragments of aircraft. Today the collection is developed by his son, Maciej Peda, who also runs the family restoration workshop.
The collection includes a dozen or so working vehicles, among them a REO, Lorraine-Dietrich, Hanomag, Studebaker, BMW, MG, Veritas, Oldsmobile, Maserati and Bugatti, as well as Lanz tractors. Among the exhibits is the oldest registered car in Poland. Historic vehicles are sometimes shown at rallies and appear in films.
