About the museum

The idea for a museum goes back to 1984, when an Izba Tradycji i Pamiątek (Tradition and Memorabilia Room) was opened at the seat of the Stowarzyszenie Odrzykoniaków. Before the 650th anniversary of Odrzykoń, with the support of the commune authorities of Wojaszówka, the local fire brigade and residents, an independent Muzeum Wsi (Village Museum) was set up. The official opening took place on 16 August 1998, and the exhibition was prepared by staff of the Muzeum Okręgowe w Krośnie. It was the first institution of its kind in the Podkarpacie region.

The museum is located in the premises of the Dom Strażaka (Firefighters’ House), next to St Catherine’s Church. It is run by the Stowarzyszenie Odrzykoniaków. The collection includes agricultural and household tools and equipment, folk costumes, weaving workshops, musical instruments, excavation finds from nearby Kamieniec Castle, documents, photographs and mementoes linked to the village's residents, its organisations and the fate of Odrzykoń during the Second World War. A separate section shows historic fire-fighting equipment, the banner and the decorations of the Odrzykoń firefighters.

In February 2026 a new exhibition was opened, prepared by the exploration group SYNKOL of the Stowarzyszenie Odrzykoniaków. It presents finds from Odrzykoń and the surrounding area linked to the First and Second World Wars, and some of the exhibits were donated by village residents.
