About the museum

The wooden villa at ul. Morska 6 in Władysławowo was built in 1924 and belonged to General Józef Haller and his family. The plot for the construction was donated by Lieutenant Colonel Henryk Bagiński, and in honour of the general the summer resort that grew up around the villa was named Hallerowo. Haller spent his summer holidays here and often invited scouts and members of youth organisations to rest with him.

Since June 2013 the site has been a branch of the Muzeum Ziemi Puckiej im. Floriana Ceynowy (Puck Land Museum named after Florian Ceynowa). A permanent exhibition is presented here, “General Józef Haller in Pomerania – For You, Poland, and for Your Glory. The Life and Service of Gen. J. Haller (1873–1960)”, consisting of mementos of the general and of soldiers of the Blue Army. The most valuable items are personal belongings of the general, donated by his daughter-in-law Izabella Haller.

The building also houses exhibitions on Augustyn Necel (1902–1976), a Kashubian fisherman, writer and storyteller, with a reconstructed study of the writer, and on the sculptor Leon Golla from Wielka Wieś. In 2017 the second building of the complex was opened: the so-called Adiutantówka, or Błękitny Domek (Blue House), the former summer villa of the general’s adjutant and a scout station, where the exhibition “At Haller’s Summer Resort” is on show.
