About the museum
Kraina Gier Retro Pixel-Mania opened on 6 June 2019 in Władysławowo as an interactive museum dedicated to the history of games, consoles and computers. Visitors not only look at the exhibits but can also play at almost two hundred working stations, with games from the 1970s up to the early 21st century.
The exhibition is divided into zones. The arcade zone has close to seventy classic arcade machines, and the museum zone holds more than five hundred consoles and computers, from the ZX Spectrum, Commodore, Atari, Amiga and the Pegasus console, popular in Poland, to the first home console, the Magnavox Odyssey, and the original Polish design, the Cobra 1. An internet café recreates the atmosphere of the late 1990s. In a restored barrack wagon, the so-called wóz Drzymały (Drzymała wagon), a games parlour in the style of the 1980s and 1990s operates; it is currently set up at ul. Brzozowa, next to the Jarmark Kaszubski.
Since 2019 the museum has been running a collection drive for unwanted retro computers, which has brought in, among other things, Robotron sets from the GDR and Polish TVG-10 consoles. Every year the Retro Weekend takes place, and the museum hosts school groups and organises birthdays and company events.
