About the museum
The Ekocentrum Parku Narodowego Gór Stołowych (Góry Stołowe National Park Ecocentre) came into being following a 2012 decision by the park management to create a new educational and exhibition unit. On the site where the private Muzeum Żaby (Frog Museum) had operated since 2002, with a collection of about 3,000 exhibits from twenty countries, the old buildings were demolished in 2013 and construction began. The investment was co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund, and the centre opened in 2014.
The permanent exhibition is modern, multimedia and interactive. It presents the nature of the Góry Stołowe (Table Mountains): fauna, flora and inanimate nature, including how the mountain range was formed, as well as the cultural assets of the region and the park's tourist attractions. The centre's website states that the nature exhibition replaced the former exhibition of the Frog Museum.
In addition to the exhibition halls, the centre has an audiovisual room. The Ecocentre runs educational classes, themed workshops and multimedia lectures, and also organises conferences and training courses.
