About the museum
The Kujawsko-Dobrzyński Ethnographic Park in Kłóbka is a branch of the Museum of the Kuyavia and Dobrzyń Land in Włocławek. It was created out of the need to save historic folk architecture and opened to visitors in 1993. Kłóbka, set among hills, forests and lakes, is called the “Pearl of Kuyavia” (Perła Kujaw).
On five hectares stand eighteen objects of village architecture from the 18th to the early 20th century: three complete farmsteads (zagrody), a Baroque chapel, a trestle windmill (wiatrak koźlak), an inn, a smithy, an oil mill, a pottery, a former school and a fire station (remiza strażacka). The watermill, rebuilt on the former cellar foundations above the Lubieńka river, has a working drive with a water wheel and an operating grain-grinding line. In the Classicist granary of 1822–1830 an exhibition is shown on the farming economy and agriculture of the former Kuyavian and Dobrzyń village.
Above the pond stands a manor house from the mid-19th century, extended in 1882–1884 by Maria z Wodzińskich Orpiszewska, the fiancée of Fryderyk Chopin. Its interiors have been reconstructed in accordance with surviving accounts, and it is surrounded by a historic park of 7.5 hectares. Every year folk festivals “Z życia dawnej wsi” (From the Life of the Old Village) are organised.
