About the museum

The Muzeum Czynu Bojowego Kleeberczyków is housed in the Dom Kultury in Wola Gułowska, which is also a monument commemorating the last battle of the defensive war of 1939. In early October 1939 units of the Samodzielna Grupa Operacyjna “Polesie” under General Franciszek Kleeberg fought the last battles of the defensive war in the area of Wola Gułowska.

Collections of mementos of these events began to be gathered in the eighties in a school memorial room. The museum opened in 1989, on the fiftieth anniversary of the battle, and the exhibition was modernised in 2014. The institution operates as part of the cultural institution of the Adamów municipality.

The collections include weapons, uniforms and equipment of Polish, German and Soviet soldiers, horse harness, photographs and personal memorabilia. The most valuable exhibits are the Srebrna Lanca (Silver Lance), a travelling award of the 3rd Mounted Rifles Regiment, and the banner of the Pinsk Flotilla. The building also houses a regional room, a sculpture studio and a hunting room, and about 100 m away is the sanctuary of Our Lady, Patroness of the Soldiers of September (Matka Bożej Patronki Żołnierzy Września).
