About the museum
The Muzeum Historii Kocka was ceremonially opened on 14 December 2017. It is run by the Dom Kultury im. Księżnej Anny z Sapiehów Jabłonowskiej in Kock, and the institution is housed in a building at ul. Marcina Stępnia 6. The project was financed from the Narodowy Program Rozwoju Czytelnictwa (National Programme for the Development of Reading), with approximately PLN 2 million, and from the town's own funds.
The exhibition is multimedia: it is based on graphics, stage sets, touch screens, films and listening stations. It presents the history of Kock from prehistory to 1945 against the background of Polish history. The individual rooms are devoted to prehistory, the town's foundation (lokacja), the Firlej family, Princess Anna Jabłonowska, the life of the Jewish shtetl, battles in history and the battle of Kock.
The last room tells the story of the last battle of the regular Polish army in the Second World War, fought in 1939 under the command of General Franciszek Kleeberg. It shows a floor map illuminated in UV, finds from the battlefield and weapons. For children there are games, including puzzles with graphics by Zygmunt Vogl.
