About the museum
The Private Museum of Photography in Janów Lubelski (Prywatne Muzeum Fotografii w Janowie Lubelskim) opened in April 2014 in the rooms of the former photographic studio of Antoni Florczak, who initiated it, founded it and owns it. The institution is registered with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
The museum aims to show a collection of historic cameras and movie cameras, light meters, flash units, enlargers, darkroom equipment and old photographic accessories. The collection also includes old negatives and photographs, numbering in the thousands, as well as albums, press and books on photography.
The museum runs photography workshops for children, young people and adults – on the history of photography, darkroom work and image composition – and sometimes serves as an exhibition space for historic and contemporary photography. Visits are guided by the owner.
