About the museum
The museum of the Dominican Fathers is housed in the former monastery buildings beside the church of St John the Baptist in Janów Lubelski, in four rooms on the first floor of the building. It was officially opened on 15 September 2010. The initiator was Canon Dr Jacek Staszak, custodian of the shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary (Matki Bożej Różańcowej Łaskawej), and the content was prepared by staff of the Regional Museum in Janów Lubelski.
The collections include historic vestments, decorative reliquaries, manuscripts and numerous liturgical vessels. The 18th-century paintings with scenes from the lives of St Dominic and St Hyacinth attract the most attention. The exhibits also show the everyday life of the former friars.
