About the museum

The museum was founded in 2000 in Wymysłowo near Tuchola, on the initiative of Sat-Okh, that is Stanisław Supłatowicz (1920–2003), a writer and populariser of the culture of the North American Indians, together with activists of the Polski Ruch Przyjaciół Indian (Polish Friends of the Indians Movement). Sat-Okh himself chose the site. The museum was set up in the Tuchola Forests, near a nature reserve, and it is run by the owner of the Dworek Wymysłowo.

The collections include private collections of original Indian exhibits belonging to Sat-Okh. The exhibition covers everyday objects, colourful costumes, regalia, and war and ceremonial accessories, as well as works connected with Indian art. It shows the everyday and spiritual life of the indigenous peoples of North America.

The museum operates seasonally and is part of the offer of the Dworek Wymysłowo, where visitors can also stay overnight, eat in the restaurant and plan a rest in the area of the Brda river.
