About the museum
Muzeum Łąki is housed in the Field Station of the Nature Club in Owczary, a village in the gmina of Górzyca in Słubice County. The station lies on the edge of the Oder valley. The adjoining xerothermic grasslands, with steppe species such as Jan’s feather grass, fine feather grass, St Bernard’s lily and field eryngo, are protected by the “Owczary” social nature reserve.
The museum exhibition is devoted to the grassland ecosystems of the world, Poland and the nearest area, to the animals and plants of meadows and to the ways they are used. Next to the station a farm is run, where rare Wrzosówka sheep, goats and Polish horses are kept. The grounds also include a botanical garden, a garden of arable weeds and an orchard of old fruit tree varieties.
The station runs educational classes, rents out bicycles and binoculars, provides a tourist information point and a tourist hostel with 22 beds. A nature trail leads to the grassland. The station’s calendar includes recurring events such as the Spring and Summer Meetings with the Meadow.
