About the museum
The Muzeum Piekarnictwa i Cukiernictwa, popularly called the Bread Museum (Muzeum Chleba), has operated in Ustka since 1998. It was founded by the Ustka baker and confectioner Eugeniusz Brzóska (1938–2021), and the museum is located in the attic of the old bakery, next to which a family bakery has operated without interruption since 1945. It is a private initiative, considered one of the first bakery museums in Poland and the only museum of its kind in Pomerania.
The exhibition shows how bread and bakery products used to be made, when there were no modern machines, and how the process looks today. The collections include old baking and confectionery equipment, including a table for working gingerbread dough, which is the oldest exhibit, pestle mortars (stępy) for grinding grain, a refrigerator that works without electricity and cookie moulds. Visitors can sign the commemorative guest book.
