About the museum
The collection of fire-service items began in 1978 as the Wojewódzka Izba Tradycji Pożarniczych (Provincial Room of Fire-Service Traditions), first in the building of the volunteer fire brigade in Kazimierz Dolny. In 1992 the collection was moved to Kraśnik, where it is also known as the Muzeum św. Floriana (St Florian Museum). In 2025 the institution received its customary name, Regionalne Muzeum Pożarnictwa.
The exhibition is located on the premises of the County Command of the State Fire Service at ul. Obwodowa 1. Its main section is the exhibition “Z dziejów pożarnictwa” (From the History of Firefighting), with about a thousand objects: firefighting equipment, carts and pumps, helmets, banners, medals and documents.
Also on show are the collections of the room's custodian: about seven hundred piggy banks from various countries, several of them connected with the fire service, and a collection of hand-cranked devices. There is also an exhibition on John Paul II, a gallery of works by children and young people, and the educational room “Ognik” (Little Flame), in which children learn about safety in a simulated home.
