About the museum
The Muzeum Przedmiotów Historycznych i Zapomnianych (Museum of Historical and Forgotten Objects) was registered with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2009 and has the status of a private museum. It operates on the site of a former farmstead in the village of Bychowo in Wejherowo County (powiat wejherowski), and grew out of the owner’s long-standing passion for collecting.
In the rooms of a former outbuilding, permanent exhibitions have been set up on breweriana (birofilistyka) and packaging, and on military history, as well as a room for occasional exhibitions. The museum also includes a regional farmstead with a building imitating a former Kashubian cottage, a shelter with a viewpoint, and a building with a bread oven and a smokehouse. In the farmstead grounds, tools and machines used in blacksmithing, carpentry, farming, forestry, fishing and joinery have been gathered; in the cottage there are everyday objects and Kashubian folk art.
The rooms are adapted for educational classes, lectures and craft workshops, and the museum’s offer mainly concerns the history and culture of Kashubia. The museum is a member of the Stowarzyszenie Polskich Muzealników Prywatnych (Association of Polish Private Museum Professionals).
