About the museum
The plan to build a power station in the Lake Żarnowiec area gave rise to the open-air museum in Nadole. The traditional 19th-century rural homestead was placed under heritage protection and opened on 23 June 1987, at the same time as the Kamienica Mieszczańska (Burgher’s House) in Puck. The skansen is a branch of the Muzeum Ziemi Puckiej im. Floriana Ceynowy (Florian Ceynowa Puck Land Museum).
Within the homestead stand a multi-generational gburska cottage, a stone cellar, a well with a windlass, a bread oven, a rabbit hutch and a kitchen garden. In the barn from the early 20th century there is an exhibition on the history of Pomeranian beekeeping and farm machinery, and in the former pigsty a workshop with a collection of joinery and carpentry tools. The cowshed with an attached cart shed shows how farm animals were housed and which vehicles were used in the countryside.
On the lakeshore a fishing farmstead has been recreated, with a half-timbered house roofed with reed, a mangle house (maglownia), a smokehouse and a net shed (sieciarnia). The whole shows the living and working conditions of former Kashubian families.
