About the museum
The Muzeum Przyrodnicze “Koniec Świata” (Natural History Museum “End of the World”) was established in December 2007 in Dzierdziówka near Sandomierz on the initiative of Sebastian Sobowiec. It is currently housed in a former school building.
The collections on permanent display take the form of photographs and natural specimens, including feathers of rare birds and petrified wood. From time to time the museum also displays wild animals that are not protected and whose lives were saved, for example fish rescued from a drying pond or small animals after car accidents. These are most often fish, rodents and insects, and after a while the animals are released back into the wild.
The museum often organises intimate events, whose dates follow the natural rhythms, for example the Evening of the Black Poplar (Wieczór Czarnej Topoli), the Day of the Mezereon (Dzień Wawrzynka Wilczełyko) during its flowering, or the Day of the First Skylark (Dzień Pierwszego Skowronka).
