About the museum
The Muzeum Regionalne w Jarocinie has existed since 1960. The idea of establishing it arose during the celebrations of the town’s 700th anniversary, and the nucleus of the collections came from objects in a jubilee exhibition of 1957. The first seat was the historic Skarbczyk, and from 1991 the museum was housed in the attic of the town hall, where the permanent exhibition “Ziemia Jarocińska w przeszłości” (The Jarocin Land in the Past) opened.
The museum is now housed in the Radoliński Palace, a neo-Gothic residence built from 1848 to a design by Friedrich A. Stüler. The palace, which belonged to the Radoliński family, was partly burned in 1917. After the Second World War it served as a library, a school and a training centre for librarians, and in 2008 it was taken over by the commune of Jarocin. After renovation carried out in 2020–2021, new museum exhibitions were opened in its interiors in 2022.
The permanent exhibition “Z przeszłości Ziemi Jarocińskiej” (From the Past of the Jarocin Land) occupies five halls on the ground floor and tells the story of the town and region from 1793 to 1989, with a separate section on the palace and the Radoliński family. The museum also runs the SOWA experience zone, museum lessons, workshops, and walks with a guide around the town and the park.
