About the museum
The Muzeum Regionalne w Międzychodzie was founded in 1976 and was housed in a historic building from the early 20th century, which previously served as the town hall (magistrat). It is now a branch of the Biblioteka Publiczna i Centrum Animacji Kultury im. Jana Daniela Janockiego w Międzychodzie (Jan Daniel Janocki Public Library and Cultural Animation Centre in Międzychód).
The museum building is undergoing renovation and extension, and during this time the institution has no permanent seat for visitors. The museum holds a rich collection of objects and cooperates with the IPN (Institute of National Remembrance) and nationwide institutions. Despite the lack of a building, it carries out educational activities.
The institution’s plans provide for the rebuilding and reopening of the museum, after the renovation is completed, as a modern centre of knowledge about the region and its history.
