About the museum
Olandia was created on the site of a former estate in Prusim, a village founded in 1386. From 1840 the farm belonged to the German von Reiche family, and after the Second World War it was nationalised. Since 2004 it has been privately owned, and after revitalisation carried out under the supervision of the monument conservator, the complex was opened on 30 July 2010.
The open-air museum is meant to recall Dutch settlement, which was particularly numerous in the Międzychód district, where 21 settlements under Dutch law operated. On the site stand wooden houses with porches, barns, a forge and a chapel, as well as a black cottage with a bread oven and a smokehouse. Visitors can see three windmills: a Dutch-type mill from 1860, a paltrak from 1754 and a koźlak (trestle mill) from 1880. The interiors of the buildings are filled with old tools and everyday objects.
On the hill opposite the manor house there is a park of miniatures with 19th-century village buildings. The manor house, the granary and other buildings house a hotel with a restaurant, so the open-air museum is part of a larger holiday resort. Workshops are organised, including bread baking, clay modelling and basketry (wicker weaving).
