About the museum
The Museum of Artistic Crafts in Węglew was founded in 2009 on the initiative of the cultural association “Tradycja” and is run by Stanisława Jasiczek, an artist and craftswoman connected with the Konin region. It is housed in a 19th-century residential building that had belonged to the owner's family since the 1930s.
About 450 items are shown in three rooms and a hallway. Around 80 per cent of them are artistic crafts: furniture, household objects, tools, a weaving loom, interior decorations and books. The visit has a domestic character. In the former kitchen there are furniture, porcelain, wall hangings and samovars; the main room has sideboards with glassware and crystal; and the hallway holds tools for processing grain and flax.
Next to the building there is a park of vanishing trades, and a bonfire can be arranged at the museum. The museum also runs plein-air painting and sculpture sessions, courses and competitions, and St Augustine's Fair (jarmark św. Augustyna).
