About the museum
The museum was established at the beginning of 2006 in the preserved undercroft of former monastic buildings at the Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) in Płock, in the Divine Mercy shrine. It commemorates the stay of St Faustina at the Płock convent in 1930–1932, when, according to tradition, she first received revelations there.
In one of the rooms a bakery with an oven, where Sister Faustina worked, was recreated, and next to it a monastic cell from her time was shown. The exhibition also contained numerous memorabilia related to the saint and her revelations. The second part of the exhibition told the story of the development of the cult of Divine Mercy in Płock, in Poland and around the world.
In 2009 the museum suspended its activity because of work connected with the extension of the shrine. According to the congregation, the museum is still closed, and a new church is being built on the site of the revelations; services take place in a replacement chapel.
