Muzeum św. Ojca Stanisława Papczyńskiego w Górze Kalwarii

Museum at the shrine in Mariankach: several hundred memorabilia of St Stanisław Papczyński, his writings and the Marian congregation he founded.

Opening hours

About the museum

The museum is located at the shrine of St Stanisław Papczyński in Mariankach, part of Góra Kalwaria, and is run by the Marian Fathers (księża marianie). It collects memorabilia relating to the life and work of the saint, his writings and the congregation he founded. The beatification of Stanisław Papczyński on 16 September 2007 was of great significance; the reliquary shown in the exhibition comes from that ceremony.

The exhibition comprises several hundred objects; some have been found, and some have been reconstructed. Texts on the display panels are supplemented by films and photographs. The layout of the exhibition is based on thematic sectors that place the saint against the background of Polish and European history and tell the story of Podegrodzie, his native village, and of Góra Kalwaria.

Among the most valuable exhibits are the robe taken from the coffin during the exhumation in 2007, letters reconstructed on the basis of his handwriting, manuscripts and documents (including his wills and the act of solemn vows), objects connected with King John III Sobieski, and memorabilia from Podegrodzie. In the adjoining room films about the saint and about the Wieczernik are shown.
