About the museum
The museum was founded in 1989 by Bożena and Wojciech Prus-Wiśniowski, members of the Society of Friends of Góra Kalwaria and Czersk. It is housed in a private building on the hill called Syjon, where the buildings of a Dominican monastery once stood.
The collections include numerous copies of documents on the history of the town, militaria from the Second Polish Republic and the postwar period, products of local crafts, and folk and monastic costumes, Dominican and Franciscan. A separate nature exhibition includes shells, insects, reptiles and mammals.
The open-air part shows craft products from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as erratic boulders brought from various parts of Poland and from abroad.
