About the museum

The Muzeum Techniki Rolniczej i Gospodarstwa Wiejskiego (Museum of Agricultural Technology and Rural Economy) was established in 2009 on the initiative of Janusz Borkowski, the creator and owner of the Kujawska Fabryka Maszyn Rolniczych “Krukowiak” (Kuyavian Agricultural Machinery Factory “Krukowiak”). The institution is private in character and occupies the former production halls of the first factory in Redecz Krukowy, where machines were made until 2008, before the plant was moved to Brześć Kujawski.

Most of the exhibits come from the founder’s family collection or were donated by private individuals. Over time the collections grew so much that they filled several halls. Part of the collection was later transferred to other institutions, including the Kujawski Muzeum Oręża, Nauki i Techniki (Kuyavian Museum of Arms, Science and Technology) and the Kujawski Muzeum Kolei (Kuyavian Railway Museum), which has operated since 1 July 2017.

The museum displays old agricultural machines and tools, including tractors, as well as cars, more than a hundred motorcycles and mopeds, horse-drawn vehicles, militaria, and the equipment of workshops, a pharmacy and offices. A separate section covers the material culture of the region: household appliances, furniture, clothing and the works of folk artists. Visitors are shown around by the museum’s custodian, who explains the history of the collections.
