About the museum

The Muzeum Tradycji Kolejowej w Węgorzewie was established in 2007 on the initiative of local railway enthusiasts. It is run by the Fundacja “Dziedzictwo Nasze” (Our Heritage Foundation), and its seat is the former railway station building at ul. Jaracza 4.

The permanent exhibition “Koleje mazurskie – pamięć wieku” (Masurian Railways – Memory of an Age) tells the story of railways in former East Prussia and in today's Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It shows historic technical equipment and parts of rolling stock, old ticket booths, information boards, railway staff uniforms, photographs, maps and documents.

The museum has a gallery and a souvenir shop. Lectures, film screenings and workshops are held, and in season there are also draisine rides. The museum takes part in the Museum Night; in 2026 the station building was undergoing renovation.
