About the museum
The idea of creating a beekeeping open-air museum in Pszczela Wola arose at the end of the 1960s. The objects collected at that time were first kept in the beekeeping technical school, and in 1973 a museum and a memorial room were set up on their basis. The official opening took place on 17 June 1973, during the Święto Miodobrania (Honey Harvest Festival).
The open-air museum is in the park next to the manor house, about 15 km from Lublin on the Lublin–Bychawa road, on the grounds of an agricultural school. The collection includes old hives from the Lublin region and other parts of Poland, honey vessels, traditional forest-beekeeping tools (narzędzia bartne), honey presses and wooden honey extractors. The oldest exhibit is a hive made of pine wood from the 17th century, a gift from Józef Krasnowski.
The site is often visited by school groups and excursions. A visit must be arranged with the school secretariat.
