Społeczne Muzeum Ziemi Tłuszczańskiej

About the museum

The museum has existed since the founding of the Society of Friends of the Tłuszcz Land in 1983 and is housed in the society's premises at ul. Kościuszki 7 in Tłuszcz. It is run by volunteers who gather memorabilia connected with the history of the town and the surrounding area.

The collections include exhibits on the history of Tłuszcz, such as iconography, militaria, coins and technical monuments, as well as objects of folk culture: costumes, craft products and works by folk artists. A separate room is devoted to beekeeping, and a small exhibition recalls the town's railway traditions. The museum also presents art collections and paintings.

Because of the limited space, only part of the collection is shown. The museum also regularly organises temporary exhibitions on the history of the region and on local artists.
