About the museum
The Casa do Mineiro is a museum unit of the Museu de Mértola, opened in 2006 and incorporated into the museum in 2010. It is located in the area of the São Domingos Mine, at Corte do Pinto, and recreates the home of a miner's family.
The space, about 16 m², shows the environment in which parents and children lived during the operation of the mine, between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Objects, memories, symbols and the everyday difficulties aim to help visitors imagine daily life in that period.
